WINCHENDON – Albert E. LaPlante, 65, of 162 Main Street, Winchendon died peacefully Wednesday, September 21 st , at the home of his daughter.

He was born in Winchendon on May 26, 1946, the son of Jeffrey and Delma (Plouffe) LaPlante and was a resident of Winchendon for most of his life.

Albert graduated from Murdock High School in 1964 and then proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. He worked as a truck driver until 1977 when he became disabled. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and attended many car shows. He owned a couple of collector cars. As a younger man, he enjoyed hunting with his sister’s children and bowling.  Albert was also a 34 year member of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion.

His wife, Susan J (Wolski) LaPlante, died in 2001. He leaves two daughters, Kelly J. Elliott and her husband David of Winchendon and Meredith A. Helie and her husband Keven of Winchendon; a sister Beatrice Bennett of Winchendon and two grandchildren, Riley Elliott and Joshua Helie.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26th at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Marguerite Sheehan will officiate.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, September 25 th from 6 to 8 P.M.
