WINCHENDON – Albert J. Lafortune, 72, of 16 Ready Drive, Winchendon, died peacefully Saturday, September 17 th in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on November 14, 1938, son of Francis and Yvonne (Labrie) Lafortune and was a resident of Winchendon for most of his life.
Albert worked as an auto body technician and truck driver in this area for many years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and had his own band “The High Lights.”
He leaves five children, Penny Chrusciel and her husband Edward of Templeton, Barbara Hill of Cape Cod, Cindy Howard and her husband Dean of Phillipston, Daniel Lafortune of Winchendon and Wendy Minckler and her husband Duayne of Royalston; seven siblings, Aldia Houghton of Manchester, NH, Norman Lafortune of Milford, NH, Alfred Lafortune of Winchendon, Robert Lafortune of GA, Yvonne Laferte of FL, Jean Goodwin of Winchendon and Shirley Nunley of VA; his companion of many years, Rachel Schlichter; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Leon Lafortune, Edmund Lafortune and Richard Lafortune.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 22 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held Thursday, September 22 nd from 10 to 11 A.M. preceding the service.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.
