ATHOL - Albert L. Gingras, 81, of 763 Templeton Rd., Athol, died peacefully Saturday morning, December 26th in Hillcrest Nursing Center, Fitchburg. He was born in Baldwinville, MA on April 29, 1928, the son of the late Arthur E. and Lena (Carpenter) Gingras and lived in Winchendon before moving to Athol in 1963. Albert worked as a tool maker at L.S. Starrett Machine Company, Athol for many years until his retirement in 2000. He was a graduate of the former Templeton High School He proudly served as a Private First Class, United States Army, in the Korean War, and was stationed in Germany. Albert enjoyed tinkering with small engine repair. His wife of 42 years, Agnes I. (LaFortune) Gingras, died in 1997. He leaves a son Scott L. Gingras and his wife Jane of Ashburnham; a daughter Holly S. Haven and her husband Robert R. 3rd, of Pleasanton, CA., four grandchildren and nephews and nieces. Three brothers, George Gingras, Arthur Gingras and Dominic Gingras, predeceased him. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 2nd,2010 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Saturday, January 2nd from 10 to 11 A.M. preceding the funeral service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Winchendon. www.stone-ladeau.com
