ASHBURNHAM - Alice R. (LaFrenier) Lafferty, 88, of 35 Lashua Road, Ashburnham, died peacefully Tuesday morning, September 22nd in Heywood Hospital, Gardner. She was born in Ashburnham on November 11,1920, the daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel (Lashua) LaFrenier, and was a lifelong resident of Ashburnham. Alice was a 1939 graduate of Cushing Academy, where she was involved in its Pen and Pencil Club, Germanae Literary Society, Glee Club and Chorus. She was a member of St. Denis Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Alice enjoyed dancing, playing the piano and she enjoyed singing. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Her husband, Joseph E. Lafferty, whom she met during World War Two, died June 30,2008. She leaves three children, John J. Lafferty and his wife Janis, Mark A. Lafferty and his wife Gretchen and Christy-Ann Brogan and her husband Jeff, all of Ashburnham; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25th from the Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main Street, Ashburnham. Burial will be in Meetinghouse Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, September 24th from 6 to 8 P.M.
