Alvida (Tontini) Arceci

WINCHENDON - Alvida (Tontini) Arceci, 94, of Winchendon, died Thursday evening, March 6th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville. She was born in Winchendon on July 14,1913, the daughter of Paolo and Maria (Giardini) Tontini and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Alvida worked as a seamstress at the former Toy Town Tailleurs for 30 years and later worked part-time at the former Casa Giardini Restaurant. She retired in 1991. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Her hobbies included quilting, flower gardening and cooking for family and friends. Her husband of 71 years, Emilio V. Arceci, died in 2001. She leaves a daughter, Nancy J. Best and her husband Thomas of Acton, MA.; two brothers, Dino E. Tontini of Winchendon and Sestilio Tontini of Riverside, California; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Arceci of Maineville, Ohio; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. A son, Richard E. Arceci of Maineville, Ohio, died in 2001. A brother, Nevio Tontini, and two sisters, Daria Tontini and Aurelia Sordoni, also predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 11th at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
