WINCHENDON - Angenar A. Dionne, 92, of 375 Maple Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Monday evening, November 10th, in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner. He was born in Jaffrey, N.H. on September 28,1916, the son of Joseph and Cecilia (Caron) Dionne and had lived in Winchendon for most of his life. Angenar worked at the former Heywood Wakefield Co. in Gardner for 25 years, retiring as a foreman. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War Two. He fought in the Battle of Okinawa and Battle of Saipan. Angenar was awarded the World War Two Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Phillipine Liberation Medal, One Star and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, Two Stars. He was an honorary member of the Battleship Missouri Association and attended several reunions. Angenar was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and for many years did the weekly collections. He was a member and Past Commander of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and a member of the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 V.F.W. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and yard work, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. His wife of 45 years, Dori Lena (Scalogna) Dionne, died in 1985. He leaves a daughter, Brenda A. Couture and her husband Gerald of Winchendon; a brother, Paul Dionne of Jaffrey; a sister, Theresa Russell of Townsend; three grandchildren, Marilyn B. Bussiere and her husband John of Winchendon, David G. Couture and his companion Beth Hickey of New Ipswich, NH, and Carla M. Bailey and her husband Steve of Rindge, NH; seven great grandchildren; one step great granddaughter and one great great grandson, as well as several nephews and nieces. Angenar was predeceased by two brothers, Adjutor Dionne and Fernando Dionne; two sisters, Olivette Maki and Bernadette Russell, as well as his special friend, Anna Greene of Fitchburg. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14th from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street.
