Anita M. (LaPointe) Lord
April 20, 1922 — August 29, 2014
WINCHENDON – Anita M. (LaPointe) Lord, 92, formerly of 96 Ipswich Drive, died peacefully Friday morning, August 29th, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, with her family at her side.
One of 16 children, she was born in Winchendon on April 20, 1922, the daughter of George L.M. and Georgianna V. (Laprise) LaPointe and was a resident of Winchendon for most of her life.
Anita worked as an assembler and inspector at New Hampshire Ball Bearings in Peterborough, NH for 25 years until her retirement. She had also previously worked at the former Winchendon Fashions. Anita was a long time member of the United Parish and its Women’s Fellowship and Winchendon Historical Society. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, reading and doing crafts. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband of 72 years, Richard I. Lord; four daughters, Judith A. Hitchings and her husband Ron of Keene, NH, Patricia Walter of Concord, NH, Wendy Diane Shapiro and her husband James of Acworth, GA and Kimberly Dean Luhtjarv and her husband Roland of Winchendon; three sisters, Rita N. Saveall of Winchendon, Germaine E. Barton of Keene, NH and Adrienne M.B. Alber of Middletown, RI; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. A son-in-law, Glenn A. Walter, and many of her brothers and sisters, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2nd at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A calling hour will precede the funeral service Tuesday from 12 to 1 P.M.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
