ASHBURNHAM – Ansel F. "Butch" Miille, 69, of 37 South High Street, Ashburnham, died peacefully Wednesday, January 15th in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.

He was born in Salem, Oregon on April 12, 1944, son of the late Paul and Lois (Lahaye) Miille and had lived in Ashburnham for 49 years.

Butch was a heavy equipment truck driver for PJ Keating Co for several years until his retirement.  He previously worked for the Town of Ashburnham as a police officer and an employee of its highway department.  Butch had been a volunteer firefighter and a member of the Ashburnham Rescue Squad.  Butch was a member of St. Denis Church and American Legion Post #142.  His hobbies included woodworking and camping.  His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.

During the Vietnam War, Butch proudly served in the United States Army.  He was awarded a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Marguerite (Belletete) Miille; two daughters, Roxanne Terhune and her husband Terry of Indianapolis, IN and Jeanette Savoie of Leominster; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a brother Gary Miille of Portland, OR and a stepsister Tamara Moore.  A daughter, Julie Rochon and a brother, Darrell Miille, predeceased him in death.

Military funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22nd at 11 A.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.  The Rev. John Horgan will officiate.  There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
