ATHOL - Archie T. Proulx, 91, of 111 Ward Street, died peacefully Wednesday evening, July 19, 2017 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

He was born in Royalston on October 14, 1925, son of the late Louis J. and Hilda M. (Syria) Proulx and grew up in Royalston.  He lived most of his life in Royalston and Gardner, moving there in the 1950's.

Archie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War Two.  He worked for several years as a furniture worker in the furniture industry and later worked for P.J. Keating Asphalt Paving.  He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.  His hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing pitch, cribbage and horseshoes.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

He leaves three children, George Proulx and his fiance Dawn King of Athol, Brenda Ringuette of Winchendon and Michelle Leger and her husband Kenneth of Gardner; a brother, David Proulx of Gardner; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Military funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11 A.M. in the Massachusetts Veterans' memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
