ROYALSTON – Arlene M. (Stowell) Dunham, 95, of 5 Baldwinville Road, South Royalston, died peacefully at her residence Monday morning, April 9th, with her family at her side.

She was born in Hopewell, VA on May 31, 1916, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Berard) Stowell, and graduated from Murdock High School, Winchendon with the Class of 1934.  She had lived in South Royalston for 63 years.

Arlene was an assembler for ND Cass Co in Athol and for Gem Crib and Cradle in Gardner for several years.  She later worked for an elderly lady and her husband in Royalston and did homemaker services for Catholic Charities.  She was a long time member of Second Congregational Church and was a former member of its Ladies Benevolent Society.  Arlene found her greatest enjoyment from spending time with her large and loving family.

Her husband, Lewis A. Dunham, died in 1982.  She leaves eight children, Roger A. Dunham of South Royalston, William R. Dunham of Polk City, FL, Harry A. Dunham of Hampton, VA, Alice M. Leonard of Polk City, FL, Doris A. Smith of Westminster, Rita L. Gates of South Royalston, June M. Smith of Orange and Sally J. Berry of Orange; a sister, Geraldine Davis of Baldwinville; 34 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.  Arlene was predeceased by a son, Lewis A. Dunham Jr, a grandson Sean Berry, a great granddaughter Miranda Berry, two brothers, Donald Stowell and Edwin”Jimmy” Stowell, and two sisters, Irene Clark and Frances Greeley.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 22 at 1 P.M. in the Second Congregational Church, 2 School Street, Royalston followed by a Celebration of Life in Royalston Fish and Gun Club, Baldwinville Road, South Royalston.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
