RINDGE, NH – Arthur L. Tatro Jr., 84, of Rindge, NH, died peacefully Saturday evening, January 29, 2022 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a stroke.
Arthur was born in Montague, MA on May 26, 1937, son of Arthur Tatro and Alice (Reid) Tatro.
Arthur honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy from July, 1955 through July, 1959. He then came to Winchendon, where he married the love of his life, Beatrice Lafreniere in 1959.
Arthur became a police officer for the Town of Winchendon in 1963 and served the town until his retirement in 1984 after 21 years of service. Arthur, also known as “Barny” not a man to sit still, then worked for the Wendell P. Clark Memorial in maintenance for 16 years. Barny’s greatest pastime was finding a yard sale and going to the flea market.
His wife Beatrice (Lafreniere) Tatro, preceded him in death in 2016. He was also preceded in death by three sons, Scott Tatro, Arthur Tatro III and Jason Tatro. He leaves two daughters, Kelly Wood and her husband Nathan of Winchendon and Tracy LaFortune and her husband Paul of Cohutta, GA; two sons, Billy Tatro and his wife Brenda of Rindge, NH and Joshua Tatro and wife Megan of Fitchburg, MA. and a sister Rhoda Devarney and her husband Bruce of VT. He also leaves behind many beautiful Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. His two brothers, George Tatro and Clifton Tatro, preceded him in death.
There are no calling hours or services. Burial will be private.
