GARDNER – Arthur Louis Sears, 69, of 116 Church Street, Gardner passed away on Saturday, March 15th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner after a long illness. Arthur was born in Fitchburg on September 10, 1944, the son of the late Louis and Beatrice Sears. Arthur was predeceased by a sister Cynthia Ritcey in 2006.
Arthur grew up in Ashby, where he enjoyed riding his skimobile and Triumph motorcycle. He worked on Crockers Farm and loved bailing hay. He also worked for Ashby DPW. Arthur served briefly in the United States Air Force.
Arthur leaves behind a niece, Judy Ouellet and her husband Andre of Westminster and a nephew Roy Hedenberg, also of Westminster. He also leaves several great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and a nephew.
Arthur will be remembered for his love of cooking and wonderful sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the Gardner community for providing Arthur with many services, which made it possible for him to remain independent at his apartment in the Church Street High Rise. A very special thank you to Felicia Stone from Bridge of Central Mass and his long time nurse Gail Lyons from Americare, who both went above their job description and showed an enormous amount of compassion for Arthur.
Graveside services will be held in the spring in West Cemetery, Ashby.
