WINCHENDON – Aurele J. Theroux, 100, formerly of 280 Maple Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, November 15th, in Broadview Assisted Living.
He was born in Winchendon on August 7, 1911, the son of the late Alfred and Adelaide (Ouellette) Theroux and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Aurele worked for many years at the former Thayer Manufacturing Company in Gardner and then worked as a truck driver for Winchendon Furniture Co. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. During World War Two, he proudly served in the United States Navy, and earned the American Theatre Medal and Good Conduct Medal. For over 60 years, he was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion. Aurele was an avid golfer and bicycle rider.
His wife of 61 years, Alice L. (Lefebre) Theroux, died in 2002. He leaves a sister, Doris Blair of Winchendon; a brother, Wilson Theroux of Sarasota, FL, and several nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, November 21st at 10 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
