It is with sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Mae Lucas Diamond, who passed away on July 1, 2024, in Gardner, MA at the age of 94. 

She was born on April 7, 1930, in Gardner to Arnold and Edris Bryant Lucas. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1948 and later attended hairdressing school. In 1950, she married her high school sweet heart, George Leslie Diamond and they had four children. 

Barbara worked as a hairdresser in various establishments in Gardner, such as Armond's Beauty Shop and Butterfly Beauty Shop downtown Gardner. She later worked at the Hollywood Beauty Shop in Leominster. Upon leaving hairdressing she worked at Almys, Sage Allen, and Sears, to name a few. After her husband passed, she went up to Maine and worked in stores in Oqunguit and Kennebunkport during a couple of summers. 

Barbara was a dedicated member of Chestnut St. United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in volunteering in the nursery, teaching Sunday school, she was president of the Methodist youth fellowship, and was active in the choir. She worked on every church committee. 

Barbara led an active life, she was involved in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was President of the PTA. She Volunteered at Heywood Hospital for a number of years and also at Cathedral of the Pines.

Barbara is the beloved mother of Daryl Diamond-Kumph and her husband Robert of New Ipswich, NH, James Diamond, and Dawn Erickson and her husband Neil of Gardner. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Heather Chadinha and her husband Mike, Melanie Cannamucio and her husband Sam, Nicholas Diamond and his wife Jessica, Ryan Erickson and Leila, and Jocelyn Diamond and her husband Thomas. Also her great-grandchildren, Raelynne, Rielle, Ryah, Amaya Diamond, Rowan Ducharme, Jane Machen, Abigail and Hannah Erickson. Her sister, Marcia Stillings, and her brother Jack Lucas, and his wife Barbara. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, George Leslie Diamond, and an infant daughter, Debra. Also a significant other Wesley Amadon, whom she lived with for 15 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Diamond Room at the Church

Barbara's funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chestnut St. Methodist Church, 161 Chestnut Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Calling hours will be held in the Diamond Room of the church from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral in the Green Bower Cemetery, Gardner, MA 01440.
