RINDGE, NH - Benjamin J. "Uncle Ben" Leon, 71, of 26 Crowcroft Drive, Rindge, NH, died Tuesday morning, August 28th in the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH, after being stricken ill at home. Ben was born in Boston, MA. on June 4,1936, the son of Philip A. and Florence M. (DeCoteau) Leon. He was a graduate of Boston Latin School and Northeastern University in Boston, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had resided in Rindge since 1993. For 40 years, Ben was a civilian contractor for the United States Government until his retirement at the age of 67. A Navy veteran, Ben was a member of Post #90 American Legion in Pownal, VT and the Rindge Veterans Association. An avid ham radio operator, he also enjoyed photography, cooking, fishing and traveling. He will fondly be remembered as the host of "Leon's Lodge." He leaves his brother, Paul M. Leon of Pownal, VT and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. A brother, Philip A. Leon, Jr. and a sister, Adele Hilton Rice, predeceased him. Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 1st from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA.
