GARDNER – Bernadine D. “Bernie” (Godin) Parker, 86, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner died peacefully Tuesday evening, May 31 st , in Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner.

She was born in Lawrence on August 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Henry J. and Mary C. (Nyhan) Godin and lived in Gardner for 29 years.

Bernie was a nurse’s aide many years ago at Carney Hospital in Dorchester and was also a nanny in the Boston area. Before living in Gardner, Bernie lived in the Boston area for many years. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School.

Bernie was known for her sense of humor and her strong loyalty to the special people in her life. She loved to debate politics and philosophy with family and friends. Bernie loved to spend time at the ocean with her daughter and found joy in the beauty of nature. She touched many people’s lives while on earth, and will always be in our hearts.

Bernie was a beloved mother, nana and friend. She leaves her daughter, Catherine M. Bairos and her husband James of Templeton and three grandchildren, Nicholas Clifford of Gardner, James Bairos 2 nd and Sarah Bairos, both of Templeton.

Private graveside services will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

There are no calling hours.
