WINCHENDON - Bertha M. "Betty" (Rivers) Holmes, 80, formerly of 125 Ipswich Drive, Winchendon, died peacefully Monday morning, November 2nd in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Winchendon on July 27,1929, the daughter of the late Frank A. and Marion A. (Webber) Rivers and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Betty worked as a moulder at Ray Plastics for several years until her retirement in 1994. She had worked previously at Winchendon Fashions for 27 years. Betty was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. Her husband of 50 years, Earl A. Holmes, died in 2006. She leaves a nephew, Bruce A. Szkil and his wife Joan of Gardner; a granddaughter, Louise M. Szkil and a grand niece, Nicole M. Garabedian. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday, November 4th from 10 to 11 A.M., preceding the service.
