MILFORD, NH – Carl A. Blanchard, 86, of 43 Ledgewood Drive, formerly of Ashburnham, Lunenburg and Jensen Beach, FL, died peacefully Sunday morning, August 24th in Ledgewood Manor, with his family at his side.
He was born in Fitchburg on April 11, 1928, son of the late Frank and Bertha Blanchard and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. Carl worked for New England Telephone Company for many years until his retirement at the age of 55. His hobbies included fishing and tinkering around the house.
During the Korean War, Carl proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
His wife, Anne T. (Collette) Blanchard, died in 2009. He leaves four children, Carl A. Blanchard Jr of North Carolina, Thomas P. Blanchard and his wife Lisa of Ashby, James P. Blanchard of FL and John C. Blanchard and his wife Cindy of Rindge; two sisters, Carolyn Jokinen of Clinton and Elvi Ferguson of Fitchburg; six grandsons and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Mary Graham, a brother Frank Blanchard and a grandson, Bryan Blanchard preceded him in death.
Military funeral services will be held Friday, August 29th at 11 A.M. in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Foundation, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701..
