Carol E. (Tatro) Greenwood

WINCHENDON - Carol E. (Tatro) Greenwood, 66, of 51G Hyde Park Drive, Winchendon died Sunday, September 21st at her residence. She was born in Winchendon on July 14,1942, the daughter of Ernest J. and Irma M. (Rice) Tatro, and had lived in Winchendon her entire life. Carol was a Teacher's Aide in the Winchendon School System for several years until her retirement. Educated in Winchendon schools, she later obtained her GED. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she taught CCD for many years. A passionate quilter, she loved making the season of Christmas joyful for her family and friends. She was known to her family as "Christmas Carol." Carol was a member of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She was also a lover of animals. Her husband, Raymond F. "Red" Greenwood, died in 1992. She leaves three children, Patricia A. Sawyer and her husband Wayne A. of Winchendon, Edmund E. Greenwood of Charleston, SC and Rae-Lynn C. Greenwood and her significant other, Justin K. Laakso of Templeton; a sister, Joyce A. Kendall of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Wayne M. Sawyer and Emily I. Sawyer, several nephews and nieces and her beloved cat "Smokey.". She was predeceased by a brother, John E. Tatro. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25th from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 P.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday, September 24th from 6 to 8 P.M.
