Carolyn R. (Diamantopoulos) Gagne

WINCHENDON – Carolyn R. (Diamantopoulos) Gagne, 75, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, May 18 th in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston.
She was born in Winchendon on September 28, 1935, daughter of the late Michael A. and Rita M. (Houlihan) Diamantopoulos and graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1953. She lived in Winchendon her entire life until moving in 2006.
Carolyn worked many years ago as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Co. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she taught CCD for many years. Carolyn was a member of the Friendly Visitor Program for Catholic Charities. She enjoyed writing and baking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Francis G. Gagne; three sons, Luke F. Gagne of Farmington, MN, Matthew M. Gagne of Leominster, and Mark P. Gagne of Oakland, CA; three brothers, Kerry J. Diamantopoulos and his wife Deborah of Mont Vernon, NH, Robert E. Diamantopoulos of Winchendon and Michael P. Diamantopoulos of Bedford, NH; four sisters, Susan E. Diamantopoulos of Newburyport, Constance Catanese and her husband Richard of Harvard, Joan Gould of Los Angeles, CA and Martha Casavant of Winchendon; a son-in-law, Steve Dwyre of Weston, CT; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Dwyre, Gregory Dwyre, Claire Dwyre and Gwendolyn Gagne and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lauren Dwyre, who died last year and a brother, Peter W. Diamantopoulos.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23 rd from Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, May 22 nd from 2 to 4 P.M.
