Cecile Rose Marie May, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, creativity, generosity, and spirit. Born in Winchendon, Massachusetts on March 11, 1933, Cecile lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by the family and friends she loved. Her laughter, love of music, singing, and her kindheartedness could fill a room and will be remembered and cherished. Cecile was a magnificent Mother, Grandmother, Mémère, Sister, and Aunt who will be greatly missed.
Cecile was an incredibly talented woman who enjoyed painting, crafting, sewing, cooking, and helping her husband tend to their blueberry garden. She loved her daughter greatly, along with all the children in her life, and would often care for nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who hold cherished memories of days spent in her company. Cecile enjoyed going for day trips in the car with her husband and daughter, visiting local fairs with her grand daughters, and traveling to VT or NH in the spring when the maple sap would start to flow. She was always willing to help and share her skills with others and baking Christmas cookies with the great grand babies became a yearly tradition. Cecile was also a hard working woman who wore many hats and retired as a shipping manager, a role she served with dedication and skill at Brown Package Company in Winchendon.
Her faith was an important aspect of her life and we are so happy for her to be reunited once more with her loving and devoted husband Leslie. She is survived by her daughter Linda May, three grand children, Sarah Monfreda, Amanda Bigwood, and Jessie Bigwood, and nine great grandchildren, Adison, Owen, Niko, Matteo, Evora, Éloise, Pipere, Sydney, and Chase. Also her brother George and wife Normajean, Maurice and wife Shirley, her sister Theresa and husband Richard, and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents Maximum and Coranna Rocheleau, her loving husband Leslie May, and siblings Roland, Joseph, Alfred, Arthur, Anna, and Rita.
As we remember Cecile, we are reminded of the words, "Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened." This is not goodbye, but only "until we see you again." Cecile's love, creativity, generosity, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she left behind. We invite you to share your memories of Cecile and/or upload photos to her memorial page as we celebrate her remarkable life together.
