WINCHENDON – Cecile M. (Belletete) Carrier, 82, of 123 Ipswich Drive, died peacefully Monday morning, August 3rd, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in So Ashburnham on April 26, 1933, daughter of the late Louis and Emilienne (Charland) Belletete and lived in Winchendon all her married life.
Cecile had worked as a teacher’s aide in the Winchendon public school system and also worked as a substitute teacher in to her seventies. She had also worked as a private duty home health aide. Many years ago, she worked at New Hampshire Ball Bearing, Winchendon Dress Shop and Independent Locke.
Cecile was proud of going on to college at the age of 71 and graduating at the age of 73 from Mt. Wachusett Community College with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies. She was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she was a CCD teacher over 30 years, choir member and Eucharistic minister. She was a member of St. Anne’s Society and loved bringing people to Jesus.
Cecile enjoyed dancing, yard work and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved the ocean, enjoyed bus trips to visit Catholic shrines, singing at concerts at Mount Wachusett Community College and area churches. A fantastic baker, she was known for her chocolate chip cookies and her church window chocolate bars.
She leaves her husband of 65 years, Norman D. Carrier; three children, Juanita M. Clukay and her husband Thomas of Winchendon, Thomas A. Carrier and his wife Terri of Winchendon and David A. Carrier and his wife Lynne of Templeton; her brothers and sisters, Albert Belletete of Illinois, Yvanna Leger of Ashburnham, Maurice Belletete of Athol and Marguerite Miille of Ashburnham; eight grandchildren, Martina, Curtis, William, Alex, Shane, Stephanie, Carrisa and Victoria; four great grandchildren, Haley, Macie, Brayden and David, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen N. Carrier, who died in 1969; two brothers, Lionel Belletete, J. Paul Belletete and a sister, Madeline Belletete.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 6th at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
