GARDNER – Charlotte E. “Betty” (Talcott) Hubbard, 93, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 28th in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston, with her family at her side.
She was born in Gardner on October 25, 1920, daughter of the late Roy G. and Addie (Williams) Talcott and was a lifelong resident of Gardner. In 1938, she graduated from Gardner High School.
Betty worked at Heywood Hospital in its billing department for several years until her retirement. She previously worked at Florence Stove and Thayer Manufacturing. Betty was the longest member, in terms of years, of First Baptist Church, Gardner. She was a member of South Gardner Historical Society and a former member of Just a Mere Circle. Her hobbies were camping, traveling, doing word searches and jigsaw puzzles. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Her husband of 40 years, Raymond A. Hubbard, died in 1983. She leaves three daughters, Marcia White and her husband John of Gardner, Diane Fagerstrom and her husband Alan of Gardner and Nancy Marr and her husband John of Templeton; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew and cousins. A brother, Russell Talcott and a sister, Jane Talcott, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31st at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. James Hinds will officiate. Burial will be in Green Bower Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held from 12 Noon to 1 P.M. Friday preceding the funeral service.
