WINCHENDON - Christopher M. Hand, 65, of 41 Morse Avenue, died peacefully Friday evening, March 28th at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a short illness. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on May 16,1942, the son of Frederick W. and Darle (Sweet) Hand and had lived in Winchendon for over 30 years. Chris was a graduate of Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH and Syracuse University with a degree in foreign language. He later received his Master's Degree in Teaching from Assumption College. Chris taught foreign language for many years at Murdock High School in Winchendon and Lunenburg High School. Following his retirement, he was a substitute teacher at Murdock High School. Chris was a member and Past Master of Artisan Lodge of Masons, a member of the Winchendon Lions Club and was a former member of the Town of Winchendon Planning Board. He was an excellent classical guitar player and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He served in Peace Corps, spending time in Brazil. He also enjoyed traveling and visited Europe and many foreign countries. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and at their house on the Cape. He leaves his wife and best friend of 40 years, Angelica (Suarez) Hand; a daughter, Nancy A. Taylor and her husband Kevin of Columbia, MD.; a brother, John Hand of Kingman, AZ; a sister, Cornelia Sawyer of Saco, ME. and several close nephews and nieces. A private memorial service will be held in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.
