On January 13, 2025, we lost a remarkable man, Danny R. Proffitt, affectionately known as Dan. Born on March 8, 1954, in Bluefield, WV; for the past 27 years, he made his home in Hubbardston, Massachusetts.
Dan was a SSGT in the Army branch of military. He was a combat veteran and served his country for 9 years until being honorably discharged in 1980. Danny received many medals of distinction to include but not limited to; Army Commendation, National Defense Service, Expert with Grenade and Rifle, Korea Defense and Good Conduct.
Following his military service, Dan worked in electronics/communications. Dan worked and retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was also on SORT (Specialized Operations Response Team) at FMC Lewisburg and FMC Devens.
He was a muscle car enthusiast and cherished his 1967 Chevy Malibu, that was rewarded with numerous car show trophies.
He was also an avid pool player with the Barre Pool League and the Gardner VFW.
Danny was a supportive and loving family man. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Proffitt; daughters, Melissa (Colton) Prentiss, Rachel (Mark) Duly, and brother, Jerry Proffitt, cousin, Rodger Blevins; and grandchildren, Harper, Clyde, and Cassius Prentiss. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Ethel Proffitt; step-father, Floyd McAfee; brother, Jimmy Proffitt; and sister, Linda Osborne.

The Funeral will be held on, Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home with a burial to follow at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA.
