David Johnson

January 5, 1940 — October 1, 2024

Winchendon

David A. Johnson, a dedicated resident of Winchendon, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, just months after celebrating his 84th birthday. Born in Winchendon on May 1, 1940, to Walter and Florence Johnson, David lived his entire life in his beloved hometown. A reliable man known for his funny, supportive nature, David was a pillar of the community, adored by all who knew him.

David graduated from Murdock High School in 1958, and his athletic prowess led him to be inducted into the Murdock Athletic Hall of Fame for the 1957 football team. He served honorably in the US Army for eight years before dedicating 31 years to the Winchendon Fire Department. He later worked as Postmaster until his retirement. David's commitment to his community did not end with his professional life; he was a member of the American Legion in Winchendon, served on the board of the Winchendon Housing Authority, and was a member of the Friends of Old Murdock Senior Center. A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, David loved going on bus trips with his wife, Priscilla, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and woodworking with his brother Phil. Always the social butterfly, David loved to talk and always had a story to tell.

David is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Johnson, his children, Kim (Yvon) Legere, Brent (Selena) Johnson, and Karen (Tom) Kasprzak, and his grandchildren, Jillian Lang, Eric Legere, Ethan Kasprzak, Parker Johnson, and Owen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florence Johnson, his brothers Walter, Donald, and Philip Johnson, his sisters Ruth Coulson and Patricia LaPierre, and his step-sister Gaynell Scott.

David's life was a testament to his dedication, reliability, and supportive nature. His sense of humor and his love for his family and community will be greatly missed. We invite you to leave memories and upload photos to David's memorial page as a tribute to his rich life.
