WINCHENDON – David F. Desmond, 72, of 166 Bridge Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully Thursday morning, August 30th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Winchendon on September 30, 1939, the son of the late Leslie and Cora (Holmes) Desmond and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. In 1957, he graduated from Murdock High School.
Dave worked as a woodworker for most of his life. He was a member of Gardner Fish and Gun Club and was a former member of Winchendon Rod and Gun Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and tinkering with cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Powers) Fontaine Desmond. He leaves four children, David V. Desmond of Winchendon, Steven F. Desmond and his wife Mary of Winchendon, Dianna L. Kreidler and her husband James of Ashburnham and Lisa M. Desmond of Washington DC; seven grandchildren, Jayson Desmond, Stephanie Brow, Jessica Desmond, Chelsea Suhoski, Nicholas Suhoski, Ella Kreidler and Lydia Kreidler; two great grandchildren, Starr Desmond and Elliott Murphy; his longtime companion Cynthia Parks of Winchendon; his brothers and sisters, Patricia Divoll of Winchendon, Doris Nichols of Westminster, Lois Abare of Winchendon, and Clifford Desmond of Florida and many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Donald Desmond and Leslie Desmond Jr, predeceased him.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 8th at 11 A.M. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bridge Street, Baldwinville. The Rev. F. Calvin Miller will officiate. There are no calling hours.
