TEMPLETON - David J. Skinner, 72, of 29 Memorial Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully Friday evening, September 17, 2021 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Cambridgeshire, England on January 11, 1949, son of the late Clarence and Gladys (Burdett) Skinner and grew up in Gardner. Dave graduated from Gardner High School in 1966 and graduated from Wentworth Institute in 1968. Following his college graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years as a member of the Seabees. He later served nine years in the Army National Guard.
Dave worked construction all of his life. He owned and operated D.J. Skinner Enterprises for 18 years until his retirement in 2018. Dave was a member of Ovila Case Post 905 VFW and served on its honor guard at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. A member of Memorial Congregational Church in Baldwinville, he served as a trustee for several years. He was also a Friend of Bill W for 32 years and an avid golfer and gun collector.
He leaves his wife of 21 years, Sandra L. (Devereaux) Skinner; two stepdaughters, Tracy Robles of Ashburnham and Laura Loschiavo and husband Domenick of Fairfield, CT; four grandchildren, Anthony, Alexandra, Adriana and Lila and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Florence Dusablon, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. in Memorial Congregational Church, 4 Memorial Street, Baldwinville. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery,
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5 to 7 P.M.
Due to an increase of COVID in the area, the family asks that masks be worn for all services.
