David K. Higgins

WINCHENDON - David K. Higgins, 73, of 183 Mill Street, died peacefully at his residence Thursday, April 20, 2017, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on May 18, 1943, son of the late Kenneth and Magnhild (Granquist) Higgins and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Dave attended Winchendon school and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Dave worked as a custodian for the Winchendon Public School system for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports on television.
His wife and best friend of 42 years, Carol M. (Charbonneau) Higgins, died in 2016. He leaves five children, Raymond Higgins and his wife Nadia of Charleston, SC, Carol Ann Rice and her husband Lee of Baldwinville, Robert Higgins of Winchendon, Ronald Higgins and his wife Nancy of Winchendon and David K. Higgins Jr of Gardner, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Military funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11 A.M. in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
At the request of David, there are no calling hours.
