WINCHENDON - Dino E. Tontini, 92, of 26 Academy Street, Winchendon died peacefully Wednesday morning, April 28th in Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in North Easton, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winchendon on January 29,1918, son of the late Paolo and Maria (Giardini) Tontini and returned to Winchendon many years ago, after living in Farno, Italy. Dino was a machine operator for the former Temple Stuart Furniture Company in Winchendon for many years until his retirement. During World War Two, he served in the Italian Army. Dino was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He was an avid gardener and fan of the Boston Red Sox. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Zaira (Diamantini) Tontini; two children, Anna B. O'Brien and her husband William of Mansfield and Paul B. Tontini of Winchendon; a brother, Sestilio Tontini of Riverside, CA, two grandchildren, Melissa O'Brien and Andrew O'Brien; a cousin, Remo A. Giardini of Winchendon and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Nevio Tontini and three sisters, Daria Tontini, Aurelia Sordoni and Alvida Arceci. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1st from Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, April 30th from 6 to 8 P.M.
