Donald C. Cormier

WINCHENDON - Donald C. Cormier, 64, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 24th, at the home of his daughter, Robin, with whom he lived. He was born in Leominster on October 15,1945, the son of the late Oliver and Emily M. (Gionet) Cormier of Leominster. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 17 years, Joanne M. (Donati) Cormier and her son, Gregory A. Desmarais. He leaves all of Joanne's children, Robin McAuliffe and her fiance Dwayne Thornton, Karen Veilleux and her husband Pierre, Lisa Gouslin and her husband Craig, Adele Dale and her husband John (Jack) and Brent Desmarais and his companion Christina Dora, all of Winchendon; a brother, Dennis Cormier of Maynard, and all of Joanne's nine grandchildren. He was especially fond of Ashley (Jewett) and Nicholas, Robin's children. He was employed by the Veteran's Administration in Bedford performing multiple duties. Mr. Cormier served in the United States Air Force as an aviation mechanic, and also served in the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Leominster High School. He spent time in the Winchendon Activity Center with other veterans, whom he had befriended over the last several years. He enjoyed listening to music and was very knowledgeable about world history, which he liked to be quizzed on. Over the last few years, he became increasingly medically impaired but still had a sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Robin (his caregiver), who spent many years caring for him. Funeral services in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Monday, March 29th at 1 P.M. The Rev. Bryan A. Tomes, pastor of Crossroads Community Church of Fitchburg, will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, March 28th from 6 to 8 P.M.
