Donald J. Rivard Sr.

WINCHENDON – Donald J. Rivard Sr., 71, of 44 Vaine Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday evening, March 30 th in Legend Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner, after a brief illness.
He was born in East Jaffrey, NH on August 20, 1939, the son of the late Arthur and Matilda (Fanny) Rivard, and lived in Winchendon for most of his life.
Don leaves his wife of 49 years, Jean V. (Grasmuck) Rivard; two children, Donald J. Rivard Jr and his wife Laurie of Winchendon and Amy Y. Salter and her husband John of Winchendon; four granddaughters, Morgan Ruschioni and her husband Tony, Ashley Rivard, Courtney Rivard and Anna Salter; two great grandchildren, Isabella Ruschioni and Elijah Ruschioni; one brother, Arthur Rivard of Jaffrey, NH and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by siblings, Roland, Lucille, Vivian and Doris.
Don worked for 27 years as a maintenance man at the former Baldwinville Paper Products until his retirement. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy. He enjoyed trips to Foxwoods but found his greatest enjoyment from spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2 nd at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Susan Suchocki Brown will officiate. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Saturday, April 2 nd from 10 to 11 A.M. preceding the funeral.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon later in the spring.
