Donna Jean Smith

It is with solemn hearts that we celebrate the life of Donna Jean Smith, born Donna Jean Nason. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who left us on January 29, 2025. 

Born on October 1, 1947, in Keene, NH, and grew up in the city of East Boston, MA, Donna spent her recent years radiating love and warmth in the local community of Winchendon, Massachusetts. 

Donna, a devoted homemaker, created a home that was more than just a house. It was a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and the smell of home-cooked meals. She was a beacon of light who found immense joy in the simple things from the exhilaration of a car ride or the serenity of being outdoors, to the challenge of puzzle books and the excitement of music festivals. Her favorite pastime was curling up and watching a good episode of Law & Order SVU.

She is survived by her loving husband Walter Smith, two sons, Brian Palladino and Tony Palladino; two step-sons, Michael Smith and Chris Martin. She also will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Brianna, Aydan Raine, Christopher, Maria, Domenic, Nicholas, Joseph, Antonia, and her nieces, Beth and Patricia. Also, many of her chosen family such as Megan Gauthier, Zack, Arianna, JohnPaul, Amber, Autumn, Xavier, Robert and, many others with whom she held dear. 

Donna was predeceased by her middle son Michael Palladino, and her parents, William Charles Nason, Jr and Iona Pricilla Beam. 

Donna's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA. We invite all who knew and loved Donna to join us in honoring her life and the joy she brought to others.
