FITZWILLIAM, NH – Doris H. (Gordon) Goodwin, 88, of 756 Route 12 South, died peacefully at her residence Tuesday evening, May 19th, with her family at her side.
She was born in Royalston on November 29, 1926, daughter of the late Clarence and Elvia (Devoid) Gordon and lived in Rindge and Fitzwilliam for most of her life.
Doris worked as a nurse’s aide in area nursing homes for many years until her retirement. She repaired antique clocks and enjoyed crocheting. Know as the “Wreath Lady”, Doris also made many wreaths, for 40 years, at her home. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband of 68 years, Russell G. Goodwin; four children, Nancey Lively and her husband Daniel of Fitzwilliam, Russell G. Goodwin Jr and his wife Sharlene of Fitzwilliam, Leon Goodwin and his wife Michelle of Fitzwilliam and Bonnie Page and her husband George of Winchendon; her sisters, Lillian White of Petersham and Pauline Rouleau of Winchendon; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Auger; four sisters, Gladys Saraco, Hazel Wolski, Ruth Blair and Hattie Sawyer and two brothers, Joseph Gordon and Leon Gordon.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Rindge at a later date.
