TEMPLETON - Doris L. (King) Taft, 75, of 26 Fessenden Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully Sunday morning, January 29, 2017 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.
She was born in Milford, MA on May 14, 1941, daughter of the late Davis and Catherine (Stanley) King and grew up in Templeton. Doris was a member of the first full graduating class of Narragansett Regional High School in 1959.
Doris had worked as a waitress at the former Templeton Lunch and later worked as a secretary at the former Temple Stuart Furniture Company in Baldwinville. She enjoyed singing and especially loved spending time with her family.
Her husband, Kermit G. Taft, died in 2008. She leaves a son, Steven R. Taft and his wife Kelly of Winchendon; three grandchildren, Evan R. Taft of Winchendon, Justin G. Taft of Winchendon and Brittany J. Day and her husband Jonathan of Jaffrey, NH; a great granddaughter, Phoenix Rachel Day; a half brother Francis King of Dell Rapids, South Dakota and a niece, Lisa M. Hamel. Her sister, Susan E. Goguen, died in 2014.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 5 to 7 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A prayer service will be held at the 7 PM at the conclusion of calling hours. Deacon Mark Carrier will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville at a later date.
