GARDNER – Doris Mabel (Lamb) MacDonald, 86, of 50 Pine Street Apt. 413, Gardner, formerly of Pepperell and Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday evening, December 25th, at her residence with her family at her side.
She was born in Lunenburg on June 5, 1927, daughter of the late Rufus and Mary (Collins) Lamb and had lived in Gardner for one year. Doris had lived in Pepperell for 25 years and lived in Illinois for 12 years. She lived in Winchendon from 2004 until moving into Heywood Wakefield Commons Assisted Living in Gardner last year.
Doris was a member of the Community Church of Pepperell and its Ladies Guild. While her children were growing up, she was a Boy Scout and Webelos leader. She was also an active member of TOPS Club both in Massachusetts and Illinois. Her hobbies were painting, arts & crafts. Spending time with her family was most important to her.
Her husband, Melville MacDonald, died in 2004. She leaves ten children, Mary Jackson of Middleboro, MA, Melville MacDonald Jr. of NV, Susan Meyers of Alice Springs, Australia, Carolyn Pearson of Winchendon, Dorothy Howard of Chesapeake, VA, Lyn MacDonald-Falek of Arlington, MA, Michael MacDonald of Lincoln, IL, Anna MacDonald of Chula Vista CA, Alexander MacDonald of Brimfield, MA and Angus MacDonald of Townsend as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the Community Church of Pepperell, 3 Townsend Street, Pepperell. There are no calling hours.
