Dorothy C. (Hughson) Grady

WINCHENDON - Dorothy C. (Hughson) Grady, 88, of 114 Ipswich Drive, Winchendon, died Thursday afternoon, August 6,2009 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Boston on October 11,1920, the daughter of the late Edward and Katherine (Cheever) Hughson and was a resident of Winchendon for many years. She had previously lived in West Roxbury and Manchester By The Sea. Dot was the owner of the former Pleasant View Nursing Home in Winchendon. She also had owned the White Gables Rest Home in Manchester By The Sea and Ivy Manor Nursing Home in Salem, MA. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and its Holy Family Sodality. She enjoyed cribbage and bingo. For 30 years, she spent summers in Mirror Lake, New Hampshire. Her husband, Thomas F. Grady, whom she married April 23,1939, died in 1980. She leaves ten children, Thomas F. Grady Jr and his wife Pamela of West Peabody, Robert J. Grady and his wife Jean of Rindge, NH, Paul D. Grady of Townsend, Beverly R. Gula and her husband Edward of Centerville, Donna M. Curley of West Peabody, Susan J. Grady of Medford, David M. Grady and his wife Mindy of Winchendon, Kevin J. Grady of Salem, Debbie A. Teixeira and her husband Paul of Rindge, NH and Denise M. Wiley and her husband Ken of Salisbury, a beloved cousin, Marian Juskewitz, a sister-in-law Rita T. Grady, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Russell and a brother Robert Hughson. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday August 12th at 10 A.M. in St. Theresa's Church, 2078 Center Street, West Roxbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 No. Main St. Suite 104, Natick, MA. 01760. The Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon is directing arrangements.
