WINCHENDON – Dorothy D. Richard, 90, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 18, 2012 in Epoch Senior Healthcare in Brewster, MA.
She was born in Dennistown, ME on December 12, 1921, daughter of the late Archelas and Melanie (Blais) Barriault. She lived most of her life in Maine, then lived in Fort Pierce, FL until moving to Winchendon. She lived in Winchendon for twelve years. Earlier this year, she moved to Brewster to be close to her daughter.
Dorothy enjoyed reading and writing and especially treasured time with her family. She was a former member of Cornerstone Church of The Assemblies of God. Throughout her life she had been a Sunday School teacher in several churches.
Her husband, Joseph A. Richard, died in 2000. She leaves six children, Dora Lorraine Harvey of Nebraska, Wilfred Edward Richard and his wife Maria of CT, Gary Richard and his wife Lorrie of Guilford, ME, Linda Goldsmith and her husband Donald of Brewster, John Richard of Vero Beach, FL and David Richard of Vero Beach, FL, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Dorothy was the last living member of her family of 15. A son, Roger Richard, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22nd at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home will be 12-1 P.M. preceding the funeral. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
