GARDNER – Dorothy M. (Hurd) Sund, 92, of Gardner, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 4, 2022 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner on October 5, 1929, daughter of the late Leavitt and Dorothy (Hind) Hurd and was a graduate of Gardner High School.
Dot had worked as a waitress at the Old Mill Restaurant, Westminster and the former Stanley’s Lunch for several years and had also worked many years ago at New England Telephone Co. For many years, she was a volunteer at Heywood Hospital. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Her hobbies were knitting, sewing, puzzle making, word search and crocheting. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Her Husband, Robert W. Sund, died in 1992. She leaves six children, Deborah Hendrickson of Athol, Kathryn Croteau and husband Bernard of Gardner, Alan R. Sund and his companion Cheryl Draleau of Gardner, Roberta J. Cormier and husband Alan of Falmouth, Karen J. Sund of Keene, NH and Kristina White and husband Ron of Gardner; 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Sund and his wife Robin; a grandson, Little Ronnie White; three brothers, George Hurd, Maurice Hurd and Leavitt Hurd and a sister, Charlotte Simenas.
Private funeral services will be held in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
