BOSTON – Dr. Jerome M. Listernick, 87, a former allergist in the Chestnut Hill area of Boston, died April 23, 2020 in West Roxbury Veterans’ Administration Hospital.
He was born in Everett on September 29, 1932, the only child of Abraham and Isabelle Listernick and grew up in Everett, graduating from Everett High School in 1950, where he played in the band and was a member of its Glee Club. He graduated from Harvard University in 1954, with a major in biochemistry and later from Tufts Medical School in 1958. He subsequently specialized in allergy and immunology and was board certified.
Dr. Listernick proudly served his country as a Captain in the Medical Corps of the United States Army. Following his military service, he went into medical private practice as an allergist in the Chestnut Hill and Randolph areas. He retired 15 years ago and lived his last years in Hubbardston and Bedford, MA. Jerry enjoyed playing the violin and clarinet and had won awards for ballroom dancing. He had been a member of numerous medical associations.
He leaves a daughter, Joan Listernick of Newton; a cousin, Stanley Listernick and his family of Middleton, MA.
Funeral services, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 2 P.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
