Durrand Michalewicz

January 26, 1990 — July 20, 2017

Durrand Levi Michalewicz of Gardner MA died unexpectedly at the age of 27 on July 20, 2017. He was raised in Winchendon MA and had attended North Central Charter Essential School. He went on to graduate from the New England Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Graphicast Inc. in Jaffrey, NH. He had a passion for fishing, cars, and board games. He will be remembered by family and friends for his sarcastic wit, his generous nature, and his compassion for everyone.

He leaves behind his soul-mate and love of his life, his wife, Shayna, whose light shined brighter whenever he was with her.  She will miss the special connection they shared, his daily phone calls during lunch break from work just to tell her he loved her, and their countless late-night conversations planning their future together.

He also leaves his adoring step-daughter, Leah, to whom he was an amazing and loving dad. She will miss their nightly routine of being sung to and tucked in as well as all the happy moments they shared in between.

He leaves his parents, Pauline and Gary Michalewicz, whose unconditional love and support throughout every chapter of his life shaped him into the man who won the hearts of the many people blessed by knowing him. He was, and always will be, their sunshine, and his loss will be deeply mourned. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Sara, who idolized him and will cherish the happy memories of special times they spent together bowling and eating pizza.

He leaves behind his in-laws, Nancy and Robert Clark, who were honored to have the privilege of calling him their son-in-law. They will miss Sunday morning coffee chats, bonding over home improvement projects, and poking fun at each other. He also leaves Keagan and Sophia, whom he always made feel like additional step-children despite his “Uncle D” status in their lives. He leaves his brother-in-law, Cody, who will miss talking about and working on cars and joking and laughing about everything and anything.

He leaves his grandmothers, Doris Robichaud and Estelle Michalewicz, several aunts and cousins, and numerous close friends whom he considered family, who will miss him dearly.

At the family’s request, services will be kept private.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests sending memorial contributions to the Heywood Hospital Suicide Prevention Program c/o Heywood Healthcare Philanthropy Department, 242 Green St., Gardner, MA 01440.
