Earl A. Holmes

WINCHENDON - Earl A. Holmes, 77, of 125 Ipswich Drive, died Thursday evening, July 13th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner, following an illness. He was born in Ashby on March 23,1929, the son of George W. and Martha A. (Taylor) Holmes, and had resided in Winchendon for 50 years. Earl was a set-up man at M.H. Parks Co. before his retirement in 1994. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Holmes, Bennett and Curran Post 361 American Legion in Ashby and the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Winchendon. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Bertha M. "Betty" (Rivers) Holmes; a brother, Roy Holmes of Weare, NH and several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, is directing arrangements. www.snow-ladeau.com
