E. Arlene Parks

WINCHENDON - E. Arlene ( Peckham) Parks, 88, of 46 Belmont Avenue, Winchendon, died peacefully Tuesday morning, July 22nd in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, after a short illness.. She was born in Winchendon on June 27,1920, the daughter of Frank D. and Evelyn A. (Hall) Peckham and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Arlene worked as a cook in the Winchendon School System for over 30 years until her retirement at the age of 65. She previously had worked at the former Winchendon Dress Shop during World War Two. She was a member of the Winchendon Golden Age Club and attended the United Parish. Arlene was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan and she also enjoyed reading and sewing. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. Her husband of 56 years, Frank E. "Red" Parks, Jr., whom she married on December 25,1940, died in 1997. She leaves a son, Frank E. Parks 3rd and his wife Marilyn F. of Winchendon; a daughter, Lois A. Wolloff, of Winchendon, with whom she lived; two brothers, Wayne N. Peckham of Shelburne, VT. and Frank D. Peckham Jr. of Baldwinville; a sister, Sandra L. Brehio of Winchendon; a granddaughter, Melissa M. Hagemeyer and her husband Mark A. of Winchendon; three great grandchildren, Zachary Hagemeyer, Haley Hagemeyer and Benjamin Hagemeyer and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd Peckham and Albert F. Peckham and a sister, Marjorie E. McConnell. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28th at 11 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home,343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Jackson L. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, July 28th from 10 to 11 A.M. preceding the funeral.
