Edith A. (LaDeau) Hallet

WINCHENDON - Edith A. (LaDeau) Hallet, 96, of 190 Brown Street, Winchendon, died early Friday, December 16th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner, following an illness. She was born in Winchendon on April 20,1909, the daughter of Charles H. and Maud (Stratton) LaDeau and was a lifelong resident. Edith owned and operated the former Open Arms Nursing Home in Winchendon for over 50 years before her retirement. She also owned a beauty salon in Fitchburg for many years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Gardner and the Senior Women's Bible Study of the church. She was a former member of the Rebeccas and the Gardner Quota Club. Her husband of 25 years, Francis B. "Mal" Hallet, died in 1997. Edith leaves a daughter, Virginia E. Cyganiewicz of Winchendon; a brother, Bernard LaDeau of Antioch, TN; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Howard E. Ladeau, in 1978. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20th at 11 A.M. in the Bethany Baptist Church, 72 Ryan Street, Gardner. The Rev. Dan Meiners, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, are Monday, December 19th from 6 to 8 P.M.
