GARDNER – Edna L. (Adamson) Anderson, 95, of 549 West Street, Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday morning, November 5th in Legend Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner.

She was born in Gardner on June 6, 1918, daughter of the late Gustaf and Selma (Oberg) Adamson and was a lifelong resident of Gardner.  Edna was a 1936 graduate of Gardner High School, where she excelled in basketball, softball and field hockey.  Years later, she was inducted in to the Gardner High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

For over 40 years, Edna worked as head of Women’s Sportswear Department at the former Goodnow- Pearsons Department Store until its closing in 1984.  She was a lifetime member of Bethany Baptist Church and the Swedish Social Club.  A member of the Old Timers Club at Wachusett Mountain, Edna skied in to her eighty’s.   An accomplished bowler, she rolled a perfect game and was recognized as one of the better bowlers in the area.  Edna took courses in landscaping, gemstone and cake decorating in her later years at Mount Wachusett Community College.

Her husband of 33 years, Herbert L. Anderson, died in 1984.  She leaves several nephews and nieces.  Her four brothers, Warren Adamson, Gilbert Adamson, Elmer Adamson and Everett Adamson, and a sister, Linnea Towle, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.
