WINCHENDON - Edward A. Thompson, 76, of 144 Mill Street, Winchendon, died peacefully at his lifelong residence Thursday morning, April 16th, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winchendon on June 10,1932, son of the late William and Corrina (Abar) Thompson and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Ed was a machinist at General Electric in Fitchburg for 25 years until his retirement. He was a 1950 graduate of Murdock High School. Ed enjoyed golf, fishing and the going to the racetrack. At one time, he owned a race horse. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. His wife of 49 years, Lucille M. "Lou" (Oates) Thompson, died in 2000. He leaves three sons, Joel E. Thompson and his wife Nancy of Troy, NH, Bruce W. Thompson and his wife Pat of Los Altos, CA and Timothy J. Thompson of Winchendon; two daughters, Kelly A. Gauthier of Winchendon and Beth A. Robbins and her husband David of Westford; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Robert Thompson and Vernon Thompson, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 21st at 1:30 P.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Jackson L. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, April 20th from 6 to 8 P.M.
