Edward L. "Bub" Cross Sr.

WINCHENDON - Edward L. "Bub" Cross Sr., 81, of 84 Spruce Street, Winchendon, died Thursday afternoon, May 10th in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner. He was born in Athol on July 21,1925, the son of Tony and Ruth (Huntoon) Cross and had lived in Winchendon since 1965, when he moved from Athol. Bub was manager of Agway stores in Athol, Holden and Fitchburg for over thirty years until his retirement in 1979. During World War Two, he served in the United States Navy. He was an avid Red Sox and NASCAR fan and enjoyed his vegetable garden. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He attended Athol public schools. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Lois H. (Needham) Cross; three sons, Edward L. Cross Jr. of Winchendon, Larry J. Cross and his wife Luann of Gardner and David E. Cross and his wife Kathy of Orange; a daughter, Darlene R. Rocheleau of Winchendon; seven grandchildren, Cherie Pasakinskas and her husband Michael, Shawn Cross and his wife Holly, Garrett Cross, Cory Rocheleau, David Cross, Theresa Cross and Beverly Cross; two great grandchildren, Caitlin Hart and Amy Pasakinskas and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Shirley Pope, predeceased him in 2005. Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, May 14th in Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon. His nephew, Richard Needham, will officiate. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA. 01701.
