WINCHENDON – Edward R. Hosnander Jr., 79, of 236 Hale Street, Winchendon died peacefully at home, Tuesday morning, July 30th, with his family at his side.

He was born in Worcester on April 6, 1934, son of the late Edward R. and Mary Y. (Sinaskes) Hosnander.  Ed grew up in Worcester and had lived in Winchendon since 1975.

Ed managed White Mountain Freezer for 19 years, beginning in 1975.  Previously, he worked in sales for Briley Lombard Co.  Ed proudly served his country, enlisting for two tours of duty as a member of the United States Army.  He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion in Winchendon and of Faith Lutheran Church in Gardner. For the past 23 years, he and his wife have opened their home, fostering and mentoring countless children and families in need.  He was a former Vice President of the Joe Schwartz Little League in Worcester and coached his children on several teams in Winchendon.

He leaves his loving wife, Joyce C. (Pfeifle) Michaud Hosnander; eight children, Steven Hosnander and his wife Sheila of Winchendon, Vicki Doyle of Rindge, NH, Lisa Tenney of Winchendon, Jennifer Chagnon and her husband David of Winchendon, Paula Rocheleau and her husband Arthur of Winchendon, Heather Connor and her husband Michael of York, PA, Paul Michaud and his wife Heidi of Winchendon, and Karl Hosnander and his wife Shahla of Hampden, MA; 22 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Kennaway of Auburn and Susan Starobin of Wells, ME, as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3rd at 11 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 627 Green Street, Gardner.  Burial, with military honors, will be Tuesday, August 6th at 2 P.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Friday, August 2nd from 5 to 8 P.M. with a Legion Service at 7 P.M.
