FITCHBURG – Edward W. Mizereck, Jr., 65, of 393 Canton Street, Fitchburg, formerly of Gardner, Baldwinville, and Leominster, died peacefully Monday morning, April 2nd, in The Highlands, Fitchburg.

He was born in Gardner on November 25, 1946, the son of the late Edward W. and Edythe N. (Benson) Mizereck and had lived in Fitchburg for ten years.  Ed grew up in Baldwinville and was a 1964 graduate of Narragansett Regional High School.  He enjoyed his early years playing Little League and high school baseball and basketball.  While living in Baldwinville, he attended St. Vincent De Paul Church.

Shortly after graduation, Ed enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving from 1965 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1967.  He attended Mt. Wachusett Community College studying Psychology.  During that time, Ed worked for many years at Digital in Westminster.   Ed also worked as a delivery man for Eastern Auto Parts and as an oil delivery man for Fraticelli Oil Company.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Mizereck and his wife Kathy, of Tallahassee, FL and Jim Mizereck of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Louise “Dolly” Oja and son Johnny of Gardner and Mary Ann Weaver of St. Petersburg, FL; his best friend, Reed Boynton of Gardner, Nephew, Dr. Victor Weaver and niece Jill Kiely, as well as nieces and nephews, Ashley Phillips, Kimberly Mizereck, Matthew Mizereck, Eadon Mizereck; great nieces and nephews, Kiley Gamber, Lillian Kiely, Myra Rose Oja, Dillan Oja, Brittany Oja, John Oja and Emily Rose Oja.   Two sisters, Kristina Mizereck, who died in 2003, Nancy Phillips, who died in 2009, and a nephew, Darrill Oja, who died in 2011, predeceased him.

Military funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4th at 2 P.M. in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.  The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.

There are no calling hours.
