WINCHENDON – Eligh J. “Peter” Fortine, 63, of 400 Hale Street, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, June 2, 2019 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Millinocket, Maine, son of the late Doris E. (Cross) Flagg and Roy A. Fortine, and graduated from Stearns High School in Millinocket. Peter lived in Fitchburg for many years and moved to Winchendon ten years ago.
Peter worked and worked for the Sentinel and Enterprise as a mail room press man until his retirement 15 years ago. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He leaves his children, Jason Fortine of Franklin, NH, Michael Fortine of ME, Peter John Fortine of FL, Patrick Fortine of ME and Joshua Fortine of VT; 17 grandchildren including a granddaughter, Karen Fortine of Franklin, NH; his siblings, Carol Barnjum and her husband, William of Winchendon, Joanne McCobb of OK, Janine Dumas of ME, Kevin Fortine of ME, and Linda Craigue of Everett; his nieces and nephews, Jessica and Steven Leger of Winchendon, Shaun and Tracey Barnjum of Winchendon, William Barnjum of Gardner and Holly Barnjum of Winchendon; a godson and nephew Jacobie Leger of Winchendon; his stepmother, Sheila Miller of ME and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He also leaves his former wife and dear friend, Amber Landry of ME.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 5 to 7 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11 A.M. in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.
